Race Report By Kyosho Factory Driver Drew Moller:
This past weekend was the 1st Annual "The Dual" Race held at Pro-Line's Test Track in Banning, CA, and then at Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont, CA. There was a total of 80 entries for this event which made for a smooth weekend of racing.
The race was ran in the Reedy Race style format that would run three 15-minute races in each class consisting of 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 1/8 Nitro Truggy on each track. The 2 best points from each class, each day would count towards the overall win using a total of 8 finishes. With one full heat of Invitational Drivers, each race was very exciting!
For each main the starting grid was decided by each driver picking a number (1-10) out of a bowl, so it was completely random. For myself and other drivers, our starting position did not dictate how we would finish in the race due to racing incidents and pit strategy. In the start of each of the mains, it was a crap shoot as everyone was in hot pursuit of each other. Some of the races were clean and some of them were not. Fortunately both my Kyosho MP9 TKI3 & ST-RR Evo were dialed in all weekend long allowing me to put in clean and consistent runs to take the Overall Invitational Class Win ahead of a star studded line-up.

After day #1 at Pro-Line, I ended up with a 2,2 finish in Buggy and a 3,1 finish in Truggy that gave me a total of 8pts. This would put me 3rd overall going into Sunday as Ty Tessman was leading with 6pts, and Ryan Maifield in 2nd with 7pts.

Day #2 at Thunder Alley, I continued with my good consistent finishes and had a chance to Win the overall with 1 round of Buggy left. Maifield and Tessman also had a chance to Win, so it was between the 3 of us! The last race was great as I was able to take the Win ahead of Maifield after battling with him for the last couple minutes of the main!

Race Report by Kyosho Driver Sean Gaffney:

I ran the Dual this past weekend at Pro-Line / Thunder Alley. It was a great format as we were racing the whole event which made it really cool. I wasn't able to race in the Invitational Class this year, so I went ahead and dominated the Expert class.  I ended up Winning 5 of the 6 mains and Won the overall! I was happy with my results from both days and even turned the fastest lap time of the day on Saturday, including the Invitational Drivers. Next year I hope to compete in the Invitational Class as I feel my speed by then will be even better! It was really cool to watch my Kyosho Teammate Drew Mo Win the Overall, he drove great all weekend and deserved it!

Expert Top 3 Overall Finishing Order:

1. Sean Gaffney   Kyosho

2. Colin Herzig        Mugen

3. Tyler Brown         TLR
