Kyosho Sweeps Michigan State Champs

I arrived Saturday morning around 8am for the Michigan State Championships at Proving Grounds Raceway where the fastest R/C racers from MI were in attendance. The race entries reached an impressive 120 for this one day event. I knew that the 2wd Invite Modified class was going to be the most competitive and hardest to win which made me want the win even more on top of this being my home track and the usual target on my back at this great facility.

The race consisted of 3 rocket rounds of qualifying with a resort after the 2nd round.

When qualifying had ended I had successfully TQ'd both Invite classes by a big margin.

When the tone went off for Invite buggy I maintained a safe and comfortable lead throughout the 6 min main event gauging Johnny Loguidice as he was my only real threat of defeat.  With 1 min remaining I sliced through some lap traffic and Johnny did the same he made a push for me in the last 2 laps and gained some ground with his normal speedy driving but my consistency and RB5-SP2 were on point for the win!  Kenny Ferris rounded out 3rd.

When the tone went off for Invite Modified truck I managed to wheelie for a good 8ft all the way to the outside pipe giving up the lead momentarily ..I then regained the lead and led for the remainder of the 6 min main lapping the entire field with my teammate Kyle Munson in 2nd and Mike Champ rounding out 3rd. Once again my RT5 exceeded my expectations!
